Game one started amidst a huge controversy as Willie, manager of the Dome Devils, was ousted from his position amid steroid allegations. Calls to Willie’s office were not returned and Manny, his lawyer, would only issue a terse “No comment”.
Kenny’s G’diks, as number one contender, were then scheduled as a replacement opponent.
Game one:
Dodger 8, G’diks 3
The Dodgers put 2 runs across in the first inning with speedster X-man picking up where he left off last year singling, then stealing both 2nd and third. Following a Fluffy walk, perennial batting champ contender Supe would single home X-Man, and Fluff would score on a Mike Davey single.
The G’diks would get one back in the bottom of the frame with Icehouse knocking in Curt.
In 2 nd after 2 consecutive K’s the G’diks thought they would escape the inning unscathed, they were wrong. X would get his 2 nd single in as many innings, and of course, steal another bag. Fluff would also single and steal 2 nd & 3 rd. Supe followed with a walk, and keeping in tradition, stole a bag. Artie would then run out to his car and retrieve more bases to replace the stolen ones. Once play resumed three runs had crossed the plate due to back-to-back singles by Lich & Ski to put the Dodgers up 5-1.
Supe, who despite throwing the ball well, was hit hard again in the bottom of the second with Joe, Mark, one of the Austins, and Termie all singling. Joe and one of the Austins would end up scoring closing the gap 5-3 after 2. Laz would single in the bottom of the third and score on a single by Joe. That was all the G’diks would score as a combination of Fluff, Ski, Hammer and lights out closer Lich would shut the offense down.
Laz would take over on the hill for the G’diks yielding the first dinger of the season as Supe roped a shot the straightaway centerfield.
X would pick up his 3 rd hit, a double, to knock in Mediocre jay to notch another run for the good guys.
Fluff would face 5 batters striking out Kenny to start the 5th inning, yielding singles to Manmaid & Ice but neither would score, as Fluff would utilize his slutter to escape.
The Dodgers picked up their final run of the game as Supe hit his 3 rd hit of the game, stole 2 nd and scored on a Lich fielder’s choice.
Hammer would face the minimum of batters in the 6 th barley breaking a sweat as he K’d a frustrated Termie to end the frame.
Terminator would get a measure of revenge back on Hammer returning the favor and striking him out.
Lich would earn the save pitching the next three innings allowing only a Termie a harmless single in the 9 th. Lich would strike out a whopping 6 K’s, 3 in the 9 th.
X-man led the Dodgers with 4 hits, 3 SB’s, and 2 runs scored.
Game Two:
Dodgers 15, G’diks 4
Icehouse and John “G-Spot” Graves would put on a hitting clinic in the second game as both men were on fire.
The mouthy Icehouse went 4-4, hitting a massive HR in his quest to win this year’s coveted batting title.
G-Spot ripped the ball hard all night going 4-5, scoring 4 runs, and stealing a bag.
The Supe led Artful Dodgers brought their brooms to the dome and swept the floor, (okay the fake grass) with the Kenny led G’diks.
Supe started the game on the artificial mound for the Dodgers striking out 2, and yielding one run in the 2 nd, as Kenny would single and score on a hit by last year’s batting champ “Mike”.
Icehouse, as a pitcher, is a great hitter. He struggled early in the first walking the first three Dodgers. X man led off and did exactly what he did last week as he stole 2 nd, and then 3 rd. Fluff and Supe would follow with 2 more walks and all would end up scoring on a single by Ski, and walks to Lich and Mon Capitan.
The Dodger would score another in the 2 nd as G-spot singled, and scored on Supe’s double.
The G’diks put one across in the 3 rd with the aforementioned Icehouse dinger.
Mon Cap and G-Spot would single in the bottom of the inning and score on a fielder’s choice by X, and a single by Fluff, who was caught stealing by about four feet, to end the inning.
Fluff looked good in his inning on work K’ing “Mike”, and St. Steven. He ran into trouble after that as Willie singled and scored on Ice’s third hit of the night.
Mimicking the 3 rd inning, Mon Cap and G-Spot would single, followed by a X-man RBI single, followed by a Fluffy RBI single would load the bases for Supe who would just miss a grand slam settling for a double and knocking in 2 runs. (Man, that was a long sentence).
The G’diks put across their last run of the game in the top of the 6 th as Marty led off with a walk and scored on “Mike’s” fielder’s choice.
The bottom of the 6 th was almost a carbon copy of the previous inning. The same 3 batters, Mon Cap, G-Spot, and X would single and score just as they had the previous inning, with RBI’s by Fluff & Supe.
The Dodgers then put another 3 runs across in the 7 th with singles by Lich, Kris, Mon Cap (his 3 rd of the game), and Mediocre Jay, with Lich, Kris & Mon Cap scoring.
Lich was impressive again as he was last week, pitching 2 innings, striking out 3 and allowing just one single to the red hot Icehouse.
Hammer would add to his resume in the 9 th once again facing only three batters in his quest to win the Terminator award.
